A​bout Hilary

Hilary is an educator and outdoor professional. She has strong leadership and organizational skills with demonstrated passion for education and stewardship. Her particular strengths include curriculum and program development and implementation, networking and growing partnerships, and group management and mixed-age education in an outdoor setting.

Hilary has a BA in Geography from The University of Mary Washington and an M.Ed. In Curriculum and Instruction from Weber State University. She lives with her husband, two young children, and beloved dog in Salt Lake City, UT.

About Hilary's Work

Taking learning outside, Hilary has guided sea kayaking trips in Alaska and multi-sport trips for teens in Utah, Idaho, and California. Working in a traditional classroom setting, she has taught first and second grades and served as a teacher-leader implementing Next Generation Science Standards at the district level. 

Hilary's goal is to connect children and their communities to the natural world, both in the schoolyard and through adventures away from home. Her consulting portfolio includes working with schools to design and use outdoor classrooms, teaching outdoor play and learning classes as a Tinkergarten Leader, and building the non-profit education provider Wasatch Mountain Institute.
